On Janurary 27, 2011 at 10:22am I gave birth to a 8 pound 1 ounce baby boy. Labor wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I went into the hospital at 6:20am, my water broke at about 7:30-8 o'clock. I progressed fairly quickly, the nurse said I was progressing like he was my third child. My boyfriend left the hospital to grab us breakfast before my water broke and when he returned I was 6cm dilated. Labor would have gone smoother and quicker but I was stubborn and was refusing to push most of the time. Once I began to actually PUSH, the pain was less intense and my son was born in about 4 contractions.
I only received a low dose IV pain medication during the whole process. When the epidural was offered I was pretty much to the point of having the baby and couldn't sit straight during a contraction.
